Draftmount

Changelog

Every release, newest first: what’s new, what’s better and what’s fixed. For the story behind the changes, read the devlog.

  1. A public bug tracker, feature requests and this changelog

You can now see what’s broken, what’s planned and what’s changed, without asking.

    New

    • A bug tracker at draftmount.com/bugs. Report a bug, add a vote if it happens to you too, and follow it from open to fixed.
    • Feature requests at draftmount.com/requests. Suggest an idea, vote for the ones you want, and see what’s planned and what’s shipped.
    • This changelog, with every release from now on.
  2. Your desk, as a feed

    New

    • The dashboard is now a feed of your writing, newest first and grouped by day: words written, sessions in each book, co-author edits and stickers earned.
    • The book you’re writing leads the feed with its cover, the scene to pick up and progress toward its length goal.
    • A side rail with today’s goal, the week, books in progress and your stickers. Charts moved to a new Insights tab.
  3. Bring your book with you

    New

    • An Open button in the top bar, on the dashboard and in the Library (⌘O works too). It opens a .draftmount copy or imports a manuscript.
    • Word import keeps bold, italics, underline, strikethrough, highlights, centred lines, block quotes, lists, links, footnotes and pictures.
    • Scrivener import: folders become chapters and documents become scenes, with their synopses and status. Drag in the .scriv project or choose a .zip of it.
    • Rich text (.rtf) import.
  4. Planning beside the page

    New

    • A rebuilt story grid with coloured threads, notes, a status and a one-to-five intensity for every chapter or scene, plus columns that fill themselves in (POV, words, status, places).
    • The thread map: each thread drawn as a line across the book.
    • Split screen in the Write room: the story grid, any planning tool or a second scene beside the page.
    • Autocorrect and a grammar check that work from rules, not a language model, and run in your browser.

    Better

    • Dark studio themes: highlights no longer turn muddy on dark backgrounds.
  5. Readers, plans and a lot of polish

    New

    • The Readers room: Beta Mount for beta readers, ARC Mount for advance readers, and Newsletter Studio for sign-up pages and letters (sending letters comes later).
    • Settings: studio themes with accents, backgrounds and fonts, animated backgrounds on Atelier, a full Accessibility section, and Plan & billing.
    • Cast and places: links between characters, role filters, genre questions and portraits you build or upload. A name generator and a Locations tool with maps.
    • Seventeen title page layouts, a separate print design if you want one, and print set up for KDP bleed and gutters.
    • Export to the ebook stores, KDP paperback and hardcover, Word, Markdown and plain text, plus Save and Save as.

    Fixed

    • The table of contents in print now shows page numbers.
    • Menus no longer slip behind panels, and the right-hand panel is easier to read in dark themes.
  6. Draftmount is live

    New

    • The website, with a writing page you can try before signing up.
    • Beta access with invitation codes.
    • Cloud storage: books in the studio save to your account and sync across devices, with an offline copy in your browser.
